The Story#
A long, long time ago, there were only plants and small animals on the earth. There were no humans.
There was a goddess named Nuwa. She was very beautiful, with a human upper body and a snake tail below. Nuwa walked around on the earth and felt very lonely.
“If only there were people to talk to me, how wonderful that would be!” Nuwa thought.
She walked to the river and saw yellow mud in the water. An idea came to her: “Let me make some little people out of mud!”
Nuwa picked up yellow mud with both hands. She shaped and shaped, making the form of a little person. She blew on the little figure—
“Whoosh!”
Something magical happened! The little person started moving and could even talk: “Hello, Goddess Nuwa!”
Nuwa was so happy! She made one after another. But shaping them by hand was too slow. When would she make many people?
Nuwa thought of a good idea. She found a rope, dipped it in the muddy water, and then swung it hard—
“Splash! Splash! Splash!”
Mud drops flew everywhere, and every mud drop became a little person!
Like this, there were many people on the earth. They gathered around Nuwa, singing and dancing happily.
Little friends, legend says we were all made from mud by Goddess Nuwa!
What the Story Teaches Us#
Nuwa created humans with wisdom and her own hands. She teaches us that creating beautiful things takes thinking and hard work.
