The Story#
A long, long time ago, there was a giant named Kuafu. He was very tall and incredibly strong.
One day, Kuafu looked at the sun in the sky and thought: “The sun runs so fast. I want to catch up with it!”
So Kuafu took big steps and began chasing the sun.
“Thump! Thump! Thump!” Kuafu ran so fast that the earth shook.
The sun ran ahead, and Kuafu chased behind.
He chased and chased, and became very thirsty. He bent down and drank up all the water in the Yellow River.
“Gulp! Gulp! Gulp!”
Then he drank up all the water in the Wei River too.
But he was still thirsty! Kuafu kept running north, looking for more water.
He ran and ran, getting more and more tired. Finally, he was too exhausted and fell to the ground.
Although Kuafu couldn’t catch the sun, his walking stick turned into a peach forest.
When spring came, the peach forest was full of pink peach blossoms. In summer, the trees bore sweet peaches.
People passing by could pick peaches to eat and rest in the shade of the peach trees.
Little friends, although Kuafu failed, his spirit lives on in this peach forest forever.
What the Story Teaches Us#
Kuafu couldn’t catch the sun, but he bravely pursued his dream. He teaches us to have the courage to chase our dreams, and even if we fail, the effort itself has meaning.
