023 Meng Jiangnu Weeps at the Great Wall

The Story

A long, long time ago, there was a kind girl named Meng Jiangnu.

She married a scholar named Fan Xiliang, and they loved each other very much.

But the Emperor Qinshihuang was building the Great Wall and took Fan Xiliang away as a laborer.

Meng Jiangnu missed her husband very much. She decided to go to the Great Wall to find him.

She walked and walked for a long, long time, finally reaching the Great Wall.

“Where is my husband Fan Xiliang?” Meng Jiangnu asked.

But someone told her: “Fan Xiliang has already died from exhaustion. He’s buried under the Great Wall.”

Meng Jiangnu was heartbroken and cried loudly.

“Waaah… waaah…”

She cried and cried, crying until the sky grew dark.

Suddenly—

“Rumble!”

Eight hundred miles of the Great Wall collapsed from her tears!

Meng Jiangnu finally found her husband’s bones. She held them, heartbroken.

Later, Meng Jiangnu buried her husband properly and jumped into the sea to be with him.

Little friends, the Great Wall was built with many people’s lives. We should cherish our happy lives today.
