The Story#
A long, long time ago, in ancient Greece, humans didn’t have fire.
People could only eat raw food. At night, everything was dark. In winter, they shivered from the cold.
There was a god named Prometheus who felt sorry for humans.
Prometheus thought: “I must help humans get fire!”
He quietly went to Mount Olympus. While the sun god Apollo wasn’t looking, he stole a spark from the sun chariot.
Prometheus hid the fire spark in a reed tube and brought it to humans.
“Look! This is fire!” Prometheus said.
People used fire to roast meat, keep warm, and light up the night. Life became much better!
But when Zeus, the king of gods, found out, he was very angry.
“How dare you steal fire!” Zeus chained Prometheus to a high mountain.
Every day, a giant eagle came to peck at Prometheus’s liver.
Prometheus was in great pain, but he didn’t regret it because he had helped humans.
Later, the hero Hercules passed by, shot the eagle, and saved Prometheus.
Little friends, Prometheus was willing to suffer to help humans. He was truly a kind god!
