The Story
#

A long, long time ago, in Greek mythology, there was a boy named Icarus.

He and his father Daedalus were locked in a high tower with no way out.

Daedalus was a very clever craftsman. He thought of a way to escape.

He used bird feathers and wax to make two pairs of wings.

“Icarus, let’s fly out!” Daedalus said.

Before leaving, his father warned Icarus: “Remember, don’t fly too low—the sea spray will wet your wings. Don’t fly too high either—the sun’s heat will melt the wax. Fly in the middle!”

“I understand, Father!” Icarus said.

They flapped their wings and flew into the sky!

“Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!”

Icarus thought flying was so much fun! He flew higher and higher…

“Icarus, you’re too high! Come down!” his father shouted.

But Icarus was having too much fun. He forgot his father’s words.

The sun got closer and hotter…

“Snap!”

The wax on his wings melted, and the feathers scattered!

Icarus fell from the sky and dropped into the sea.

Little friends, Icarus got into danger because he didn’t listen to his father. We must remember: listening to mom and dad is important!
