The Story#
A long, long time ago, in Greek mythology, there was a god who could fly very fast, named Hermes.
Hermes was the son of Zeus. He looked very cute, with little wings on his feet.
With these wings, Hermes could fly very, very fast!
He was the messenger of the gods, responsible for delivering messages.
On the day Hermes was born, he did something mischievous.
He sneaked out and saw Apollo’s cattle.
“These cattle look nice. Let me take a few to play with!” Hermes thought.
He drove away fifty cattle. He also tied their feet together so they walked backward, making it impossible to find their footprints!
Apollo discovered his cattle were missing and searched everywhere.
Finally, he found Hermes.
“You stole my cattle!” Apollo said angrily.
Hermes had to admit it. He even gave Apollo a lyre he had made as an apology.
Apollo heard the lyre’s sound and thought it was beautiful, so he forgave Hermes.
From then on, Hermes became the protector of music and travel.
Little friends, although Hermes was mischievous, he was very clever and talented!
