The Story#
A long, long time ago, in Norse mythology, there was a god who loved playing tricks, named Loki.
Loki was very clever but also very mischievous. He often played pranks on other gods, making them angry but also amused.
Once, Loki secretly cut off the goddess Sif’s beautiful golden hair.
When Sif woke up and found herself bald, she cried heartbrokenly.
Her husband Thor was furious and wanted to beat Loki.
“Don’t be angry, I’ll make it up to her!” Loki said.
Loki found dwarf craftsmen and had them make a golden wig.
This golden wig was magical—as soon as it was put on, it became real hair!
Sif had beautiful golden hair again, even more beautiful than before.
Loki also had the dwarves make many treasures: Thor’s hammer, Odin’s ring, Frey’s ship…
All these treasures were given to the gods.
Although Loki loved playing pranks, sometimes he could be helpful.
But Loki’s pranks became more and more excessive, and finally, he became an enemy of the gods.
Little friends, Loki’s story teaches us: pranks should be moderate. Going too far will make you lose friends.
