The Story#
A long, long time ago, in Norse mythology, there was a super big tree called Yggdrasil.
This tree was so big that its roots connected three worlds:
The upper roots connected to the world of the gods, where Odin and other gods lived; The middle roots connected to the world of humans, where we live; The lower roots connected to the world of giants and the underworld.
The trunk of the World Tree held up the entire universe!
Many magical animals lived in the tree:
A clever little squirrel ran up and down, delivering messages; A great eagle stood at the top, watching everything; A snake coiled around the roots, gnawing on the bark; Four little deer jumped among the branches.
Every day, goddesses came to water the World Tree, making it grow tall and strong.
The World Tree would never die. It protected all the worlds.
The Norse people believed that this tree was the center of the universe, and all life was connected to it.
Little friends, the World Tree is like our nature. We should take good care of it!
