The Story#
A long, long time ago, in Norse mythology, there was a god named Heimdall.
He was the guardian of the rainbow bridge called Bifrost.
The rainbow bridge connected the earth to Asgard, the home of the gods.
Heimdall stood on the rainbow bridge and watched for enemies.
He had very good eyesight—he could see things from very far away.
He could also hear things from very far away.
“Whoosh! Whoosh!”
He could hear a leaf falling from a tree a mile away!
One day, Heimdall saw something coming toward the rainbow bridge.
“Who is there?” he shouted.
It was Loki, the trickster god, trying to sneak into Asgard.
Heimdall blocked the way: “You can’t pass! You’re not allowed!”
Loki tried to trick him, but Heimdall was too smart.
Heimdall also had a special horn called Gjallarhorn.
When enemies approached, he would blow the horn:
“Beep! Beep! Beep!”
All the gods would hear the horn and come to defend Asgard.
Little friends, Heimdall was a brave and responsible guardian. He watched over everyone to keep them safe.
