The Story#
A long, long time ago, in Egyptian mythology, there was a powerful sun god named Ra.
Ra was very old and very wise. He was the king of all gods.
One day, Ra decided to create the world.
He took some of his own body parts and made everything:
His eye became the sun, shining in the sky. His tears became the moon. His breath became the wind. His blood became the rivers.
Ra created humans from his sweat and tears.
“Live well, humans!” Ra said. “Take care of each other.”
But humans forgot Ra’s words and started doing bad things.
Ra was sad and angry. He decided to punish humans.
He sent his daughter, Hathor, to destroy them.
But the gods stopped Hathor. They made a compromise:
Ra would live on earth for a while, then go back to the sky.
Ra agreed. He lived on earth for a long time, watching over humans.
Ra taught humans to build temples and worship the gods.
Little friends, Ra created the world and taught humans how to live well.
