The Story#
A long, long time ago, in Egyptian mythology, there was a god of wisdom named Thoth.
Thoth had the head of an ibis bird and long legs. He was very clever.
Before Thoth, people had no writing. They remembered things by drawing pictures on stone.
But drawings take a lot of space and are hard to remember.
Thoth wanted to create a better way to record information.
He watched the moon and noticed the phases change.
“Ah! I have an idea!” Thoth said.
He created hieroglyphics—a special kind of writing using pictures and symbols.
Thoth taught people how to write hieroglyphics.
Now people could write down stories, laws, and important information.
The Egyptians built pyramids and temples using hieroglyphics.
Thoth became the god of wisdom, writing, and knowledge.
Little friends, writing helps us remember important things and share knowledge with others!
