The Story#
A long, long time ago, in Indian mythology, there was a god named Brahma.
He was the creator god. He created the world.
Brahma sat on a lotus flower in the ocean.
From the lotus flower, a golden egg appeared.
The golden egg was called the Hiranyagarbha.
Brahma came out of the golden egg.
He looked around and saw the empty universe.
“Time to create the world!” Brahma said.
He thought and thought.
“Earth, sky, sun, moon, stars, plants, animals, people…”
Brahma created everything one by one.
He created the earth first.
Then he created the sky.
He created the sun and the moon.
He created the stars.
He created plants and trees.
He created animals.
Finally, he created humans.
“Live well, humans!” Brahma said. “Take care of each other.”
Brahma also created the four Vedas, the sacred books of India.
Brahma’s work was done.
The world was complete and beautiful.
Little friends, Brahma created the world with his thoughts.
