The Story
#

A long, long time ago, in Indian mythology, there was a god named Vishnu. He was the protector god.

Vishnu had a special power: he could take different forms to help people.

These special forms are called “avatars.”

Vishnu’s first avatar was a small fish. He saved a king from a big flood.

His second avatar was a giant turtle. He helped gods lift a mountain.

His third avatar was a wild boar. He dug up the earth from under the sea.

His fourth avatar was a man-lion. He fought a bad demon.

One day, a bad demon named Hiranyakashipu became very powerful.

He said: “No one can hurt me!”

But Vishnu took his fifth avatar—a small boy named Narasimha.

Narasimha had a human body but the head of a lion!

When Hiranyakashipu came home, Narasimha caught him—

“Roar!”

The lion god killed the bad demon.

Vishnu’s avatars always protected good people and fought bad things.

Little friends, Vishnu’s avatars teach us: when we face difficulties, we can be brave and strong!
