The Story

A long, long time ago, in Indian mythology, there was a god named Ganesha.

He had the head of an elephant and the body of a human.

Ganesha was the god of wisdom and success.

He could solve any problem.

One day, Parvati, Ganesha’s mother, asked him to guard the door.

“I’m going to take a bath,” Parvati said.

Ganesha stood by the door.

His father, Shiva, came home.

“Who is that?” Shiva asked.

Ganesha said: “My mother asked me to guard the door.”

Shiva was angry. He didn’t know Ganesha was his son.

Shiva fought with Ganesha.

“Bang! Whoosh! Scratch!”

Ganesha was strong, but Shiva was stronger.

Ganesha’s head was cut off!

Parvati came out of the bath and saw what happened.

She was very sad and angry.

“Who cut off my son’s head?” she cried.

Shiva said: “Don’t worry. I’ll fix it.”

Shiva looked around and saw an elephant.

“Perfect!” Shiva said.

He put the elephant’s head on Ganesha’s body.

Ganesha came back to life!

Ganesha became the elephant-headed god.

He was wise and powerful.

Little friends, Ganesha was a special god with an elephant head.

What the Story Teaches Us
#

Ganesha was created with an elephant’s head after an accident. This story teaches us that we can overcome problems and become stronger.
