The Story#
A long, long time ago, in Japanese mythology, there was a storm god named Susanoo.
He was Amaterasu’s brother.
Susanoo was very naughty. He broke things and caused trouble.
Amaterasu was angry and sent him away.
Susanoo went to a village called Izumo.
A terrible monster lived there.
The monster had eight heads and eight tails!
“Whoosh! Whoosh!”
The monster attacked the village.
It ate the crops and scared the people.
The villagers were afraid.
Susanoo said: “I’ll help you!”
He made a plan.
He told the villagers: “Prepare eight barrels of sake.”
The villagers made eight barrels of rice wine.
Susanoo put the wine in the fields.
The monster smelled the wine.
“Yummy!” the monster said.
It drank all eight barrels and fell asleep.
“Now!” Susanoo shouted.
He cut off all eight heads!
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
The monster was dead!
The villagers were safe.
Susanoo was a hero!
Little friends, Susanoo was brave and smart.
He defeated a terrible monster with a clever plan.
