The Story

A long, long time ago, in Japan, there was a strong boy named Kintaro.

He wore a red bib and held a small axe.

Kintaro was very strong. He could lift big stones.

He could wrestle with bears!

He played with animals in the forest.

A bear, a monkey, and a rabbit were his friends.

They played together every day.

“Hey! Let’s wrestle!” the bear would say.

“Okay!” Kintaro would say.

Kintaro always won!

One day, a famous warrior named Minamoto-no-Raikou passed through the forest.

He saw Kintaro wrestling with the animals.

“Wow! This boy is amazing!” Minamoto-no-Raikou said.

He asked Kintaro to join his army.

Kintaro agreed.

Kintaro became a brave warrior.

He fought many battles and protected people.

He was known as the “Golden Boy” because he was strong and brave.

Little friends, Kintaro was a strong and kind boy.

He taught us to be brave and protect others.
