The Story#
A long, long time ago, in Polynesian mythology, there was a girl named Moana.
She lived on a beautiful island in the Pacific Ocean.
Moana loved the ocean.
She loved to swim and sail.
Her people were islanders. They depended on the ocean for food.
But something was wrong.
The island was losing its trees. The fish were disappearing.
Moana’s grandmother said: “The fish are dying because the coral is dead.”
Moana wanted to save her island.
She found a magical canoe.
“Whoosh!”
The canoe flew across the ocean.
Moana sailed to a faraway island.
There, she found a demigod named Maui.
Maui had magical powers.
He could change his size and shape.
Maui said: “I can help you.”
Maui and Moana went on an adventure.
They fought monsters and solved problems.
Finally, they found the heart of Te Fiti, the goddess of creation.
“Whoosh!”
Moana put the heart back.
The island was saved!
The trees grew back. The fish returned.
Moana was a hero!
