The Story#
A long, long time ago, in a forest, there was a race between a tortoise and a hare.
The hare was very fast. He could run faster than anyone else.
The tortoise was very slow. He walked one step at a time.
The animals gathered to watch the race.
“Who do you think will win?” they asked.
The hare laughed: “I’ll finish the race before you even start!”
The tortoise smiled: “We’ll see.”
On race day, the hare stood at the starting line.
The tortoise walked slowly to the start.
“Go!” someone shouted.
The hare ran quickly and far ahead. He could see the finish line.
“Too slow!” the hare said. “I’ll take a nap.”
The hare lay down under a tree and fell asleep.
The tortoise kept walking, slowly, slowly.
“Step, step, step.”
The hare slept for a long time. When he woke up, the tortoise was almost at the finish line!
The hare ran as fast as he could, but it was too late.
The tortoise crossed the finish line first!
The animals cheered: “Tortoise wins!”
The hare was ashamed. He learned a lesson: slow and steady wins the race.
Little friends, don’t be like the hare. Be patient and keep going!
