The Story#
A long, long time ago, there was a shepherd boy who watched sheep on a hill.
He was bored. There was nothing to do.
“I want to have some fun!” the boy said.
He ran down the hill and shouted: “Wolf! Wolf! Come and help me!”
The villagers heard him and ran up the hill.
“Where is the wolf?” they asked.
The boy laughed: “There is no wolf! I just wanted to play!”
The villagers were angry. “Don’t lie to us!” they said.
The next day, the boy was bored again.
He ran down the hill and shouted: “Wolf! Wolf! Come and help me!”
The villagers heard him and ran up the hill.
“Where is the wolf?” they asked.
The boy laughed again: “There is no wolf! I just wanted to play!”
The villagers were very angry. “Don’t lie to us again!” they said.
The third day, a real wolf came!
The boy was scared. He ran down the hill and shouted:
“Wolf! Wolf! Come and help me! A real wolf is attacking the sheep!”
The villagers heard him but didn’t believe him.
“Let’s go see,” one villager said. “Maybe he’s lying again.”
When they got to the hill, the boy was crying.
“The wolf ate my sheep!” the boy said.
The villagers were sad and angry.
They said: “You lied to us twice, so we didn’t believe you this time.”
The boy learned a lesson: lying is bad. When you lie, people won’t trust you.
Little friends, don’t be like the boy who cried wolf. Be honest and truthful!
