The Story#
A long, long time ago, the North Wind and the Sun argued about who was stronger.
“I’m stronger! I’m stronger!” the North Wind said.
“No, I’m stronger!” the Sun said.
They decided to have a contest.
They saw a man walking down the road.
“Let’s see who can make the man take off his coat first,” the North Wind said.
The North Wind tried first.
“Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!”
The North Wind blew very hard.
The man held his coat tighter.
“Whoa! It’s too windy!” the man said.
The North Wind blew harder.
But the man held his coat even tighter.
Finally, the North Wind was tired.
“Okay, your turn!” the North Wind said.
The Sun smiled.
“Goodbye!” the Sun said.
The Sun came out from behind a cloud.
“Beep! Beep! Beep!”
The Sun shone very bright and warm.
The man felt hot.
“Wow, it’s warm!” the man said.
He took off his coat.
The Sun kept shining.
The man took off his shirt too.
“Whoosh!”
The Sun was the winner!
Little friends, the North Wind was strong but not smart. The Sun was gentle and won with kindness.
What the Story Teaches Us#
The North Wind tried to force the man to take off his coat, but the Sun’s gentle warmth worked better. This story teaches us that kindness and gentleness are often more effective than force.
