A Miracle Made of Stone
#

Over 4,500 years ago, there were no cranes, no trucks, not even iron tools.

But the Egyptians used 2.3 million giant stones to build a pyramid 146 meters tall — that’s as high as a 48-story building!

Each stone weighs an average of 2.5 tons, and the heaviest ones weigh 80 tons — heavier than an elephant.

How did they move so many heavy stones so high? No one has fully figured it out to this day.

Math Inside the Pyramids
#

The pyramids aren’t just “stacked stones” — they’re also a math problem.

The pyramid’s four sides point almost perfectly north, south, east, and west, with an error of less than 1 degree.

The ratio of the pyramid’s height to its base length is close to pi (π) (3.14159…).

Some people joke: “The pyramids were built by aliens.” But actually, this shows that the ancient Egyptians had very advanced math and astronomy skills.

Pyramids Are Tombs
#

Pyramids are actually tombs for pharaohs (ancient Egyptian kings).

The ancient Egyptians believed that after death, the soul would return, so the body needed to be preserved. They turned pharaohs’ bodies into mummies — preserved using special methods.

The pyramid was a “safe” to protect the mummy. Inside were the pharaoh’s coffin, gold and silver jewelry, food, and clothing — everything the pharaoh would need in the afterlife.

The Sphinx
#

Next to the pyramids stands a famous statue — the Sphinx.

It has the body of a lion and the face of a human, stretching 73 meters long and 20 meters tall.

Its face is said to be carved in the likeness of a pharaoh. It has been crouching there, guarding the pyramids, for over 4,500 years.

Learn from the World

The pyramids teach us one thing: human imagination and perseverance have no limits.

4,500 years ago, without modern machines, the ancient Egyptians used wisdom and sweat to build structures that still amaze us today.

Maybe “impossible” is just an excuse we give ourselves.
